I specialize in providing assessment and treatment that specifically addresses individual and family needs. I also offer clinical supervision.

Treatment can be in the office or online.

Treatment Options

  • Play therapy
  • Individual therapy with children and teens (which may include talking, expressive art and/or sand‑tray play)
  • Parent‑child/youth sessions
  • Family therapy
  • Parent education and support
  • Wrap-around services (such as consultation and support for teachers and other professionals)

Process

  1. Email me to set up a 15 minute free phone consultation. This provides an opportunity for you to ask me questions about my approach and briefly discuss your concerns, needs and goals.
  2. If you decide you want to go ahead with treatment, contact me to set up an initial session. We decide who should attend the initial session. This depends on the issues you want to address and the age of the child or children.
  3. Initial session (usually 1.5 hours). We discuss confidentiality (and the limits of confidentiality) and the importance of consent to treatment. I ask questions about the concerns you want to address, developmental history of the child or youth, family history and things you have tried to address or change the presenting concerns. We also discuss possible goals and treatment options.
  4. Treatment sessions (usually 50 minutes). Depending on the goals and treatment plan, the treatment sessions may include the child/youth, parent or parents and/or all or part of the family.
  5. Treatment plan reviews. After a few treatment sessions, we usually meet to discuss the treatment so far and adjust or “fine tune” the treatment goals and plans.

Fees

The fee is $135 per 50 minute session including GST. The initial 90 minute session is $200. The fees are payable each session by cheque, cash or e‑transfer. You will get a receipt that can be used as a medical expense on your taxes.

Many extended healthcare plans such as Blue Cross and ManuLife provide reimbursement of some or all of the fees paid to a Registered Clinical Counsellor. If you have an extended healthcare plan, check with your plan administrator to see if they cover this expense.

Cancellation Policy

24 hours notice is required to cancel a scheduled appointment. You are responsible for covering the cost of the session if you cancel late or do not show up (except in the case of an emergency). Clients arriving late forfeit the time from their 50 minute session.

Clinical Supervision

I provide clinical supervision for clinical counsellors and social workers.
